Sinopse

Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling) é uma brilhante estudante de astrofísica do MIT, e pretende estudar o cosmos. John Burroughs (William Mapother) é um famoso compositor, e não poderia estar mais feliz com a sua família, e o bebê que está por vir. Na noite em que um novo planeta é descoberto, Rhoda dirige desatenta observando o céu, e acaba por bater no carro de John. Ela mata toda a família dele, e deixa o compositor em coma. Depois de cumprir 4 anos de prisão por ter causado o acidente, ela sai da cadeia, e logo procura John. Os dois iniciam um caso de amor, e a jovem astrofísica se inscreve em um concurso, onde o vencedor poderia viajar até o novo planeta, que na verdade é uma cópia do Planeta Terra.
